Robert Thomas-KO Health Director

 Robert Thomas is the Keewaytinook Okimakanak Health Director and is a member of Fort Severn First Nations.He manages the existing health programs and services mandated by the board,He Develops and maintains working relationships with Keewaytinook Okimakanak members First Nation and Government agencies. Representing Keewaytinook Okimakanak First Nations as Directed by the board on different health related boards and committees.

New Hire Capacity Builder/Trainer

supports the mental health program is responsible for increasing longterm capacity in addressing mental health issues by increasing  knowledge  and skills  of local health Social Services  and education. Staff as well as community members  at large by developing and delivering appropraite and relevant training oppurinities health promotion and prevention activities/events promoting, encouraging and preparing the workers to pursue formal accreditation; liaison,cooperation and coordination with the KO fn Health Directors and Mental health teams as required; design assistance, production of materials for and updating of the Mahmindonenchiigun Menoyawin Project website and e-learning platform; and other dutiess as required.

Sally Bunting- Mental Health Therapist

Sally Bunting  is the Mental Health Therapist she is directly responsible for providing enhanced mental health therapy services for KO members First Nations clients, including direct mental health therapy and client care; guidance and leadership in overall case supervison and case management; leadership and support of mental  health network/teams; liaison , cooperation and coordination with the KO FN Health Directors and the project Capacity Builder/Trainer; general support for KO FN clients  and local and visiting mental health or other soical services staff.

Marney Vermette-HCC Nurse Supervisor

Supervises the HCC Homecare Nurse, the KO Long Term Care Registered Practical Nurse; the Home and Community Care Coordinators; the Personal Support Workers and /or Respite Care workers. Provides clinical supervision, orientation and training to the HCC staff monitoring the quality and delivery of care.  The nurse supervisor travels to remote communities providing assessments, develops careplans, case management, nursing services such as footcare, medication reviews, monitoring vital signs, dressing changes, health teaching, client advocacy, reporting, making referrals to ensure client needs are being met. Assist and coordinate in the utilization of technology to enhance and support client services. The Nurse Supervisor reports to and works under the direct supervision the KO Director of Health Services.           

Marylin Mclaughin-Regional Crisis Intervention Coordinator Trainer

 Marylin Mclaughin is Regional Crisis Intervention Coordinator She is responsible for overseering the Community Crisis Team work supporting six(6)Community Crisis Intervention Coordinator in doing risk assessments,making referrals advocating for clients and community.The Coordinator will serve as initial contact person between K.O. and the local band Crisis Team when an emergency develops.Also she will identify needs related to emergency and relay these needs to the appropriate agencies. The Regional Crisis Coordinator serves as the link through which information,requests and assistance is provided.Th K.O. coordinator will contact the appropriate Nodin Crisis Coordinator(when there involvement is required) to request NIHB funding and Mental Health Assistance.Marylin Mclaughin is Certified trainer in Suicide Preventiion,CISD(critical incident stress debriefing) Debriefing,Peer Counselling,Group therapy. 

Phyllis Chowaniec-Long Term Care Nurse,RPN

Phyllis Chowaniec Travels to 5 remote communities,for home visit assessments every 3 months also ongoing telephone contacts to clients.Provides client assessments,nursing services within license guidelines,Reviews medications monitoring vital signs,dressing changes provides health teaching,Follow-up referrals to other community services & organization for services,assessments for assistive devices Working closely with PSW & Respite Care Program Visit with elders & disabled people on a one to one basis in their homes. Attend monthly meetings with HCC staff,client reviews.

Judy Wabano Home Community Care

Judy Wabano The  Home Care Nurse is responsible for providing community based nursing care services to clients in their home. The home care nurse travels to remote communities providing assessments,develops careplans,case management,nursing services such as footcare,medication reviews,monitoring vital signs dressing changes,health teaching client advocacy,reporting, making referrals to ensure client needs are being met. Assist and coordinate  in the utilization  of technology to enhance  and support  client services. The homecare nurse reports to and works under the direct supervision the HCC Nurse Supervisor.

Mary Lawson-Chair of KO Health Vice Chair:

Mary Lawson is the Health Director for Mcdowell Lake.

 

Lois James- Health Secretary

Lois James provides administrative duties such as making travel arrangements for KO Community clients and department staff. Does filing and faxing, photocopying and typing for the health department,also organizes and prepares for health department meetings and workshops in advance, updates the Director of Health Service's daily planner,recieves and records all health department staff and community workers timesheets and submits them to payroll and is also responsible for health department purchase orders.
