HCC Nurse Supervisor travels to Keewaytinook Okimakanak Communities to do client assessments, reassessments, and the program has a RPN Nurse for footcare.
HCC program will continue to utilize the Keewaytinook Okimakanak Telemedicine (KOTM) equipment for assessments and reassessments for clients that are able to travel to the nursing station. HCC Nurse Supervisor has an OTN videoconference equipment in her office provided by KOTM. Monthly client reviews with the CHN and HCC Coordinators are now being done by videoconference.
HCC Nurse Supervisor and KOTM Special Projects Coordinator work closely together on the Tele homecare pilot project.
Project started in Deer Lake with one family to date. Services being provided by videoconference and # of visits:
All the HCC staff will be taking a Food Handlers Safety Course by Videoconference on February 20/08. This course is a certified course through the Northwestern Health Unit.
Personal support program meets the Ministry of Health guidelines established by its Long Term Care Division.
To date there have been ten community members who have graduated from the PSW training, four of whom work within the HCC program.
Six HCC staff members are in need of the PSW training. Training template for transfer of funds has been submitted to Health Canada. Training to start March 2008. Verbal approval given from Regional HCC Coordinator, Jeanneatte Diguer, written approval to follow. Students from the previous trainings will have an opportunity to catch up on modules missed and receive their PSW certificate.
